Who runs Independent Scientology?

No one runs Independent Scientology. It is a movement, a cooperative venture started by concerned Scientologists who felt something had to be done about the suppression and oppression of David Miscavige and his corporate Scientology “management”.

So is there any lack of expertise in the independent field?

No, quite the contrary, most of the best minds and experts in Scientology and related fields have left Scientology Inc. and are now Independent Scientologists.

Can you do the whole bridge as an independent Scientologist?

Yes, both the training and auditing Bridge is available within Independent Scientology, all the way to OT and without having to answer to secret police (OSA and its ethics arm) and without threat, duress, extortion or enforced donations. Auditing works best in a safe environment. What safer environment than in your own home?

Does Independent Scientology demand or require any form of donation?

Why do people speak out against the Church of Scientology?

Independent Scientologists do not speak out against the Church of Scientology, they speak out against the lies, abuses and abusive practices as well as the alterations of tech and policy within the church which have hurt many, created enemies, bad repute and brought the church to its knees, the truth being the only thing that can remedy the dire situation.

Does Independent Scientology use disconnection or fair game?

What role does money play in Independent Scientology?

Independent Scientologists believe that services should be affordable, that they should not be priced out of reach and that you do not need to be wealthy to go up the Bridge. Individual practitioners set their own prices.

How do I find an auditor in the independent field?

There are a number of sources but www.freeandable.com is a good start.

Where can I do Scientology courses in the independent field?

Check out the training listings at www.freeandable.com.

Where can I get help with Scientology Ethics in the independent field?

Try the Ethics listing at www.freeandable.com.

Where can I get advice on LRH Admin Tech in the independent field?

Find a business consultant or management listing at www.freeandable.com.

Where can I network or advertise my services to other Independent Scientologists?

Create a FREE business listing at www.freeandable.com. And you can also join various groups in facebook, including Indie Scientologists, Independent Scientologists of Texas, etc.

How do I obtain materials in the independent field?

Search for them on Amazon.com, eBay, used bookstores, other Independent Scientologists on facebook, purchasing directly from Bridge Publications or New Era Publications.

Where can I buy an e-meter?

In 2010, John Aaron Williams and Jim Logan launched a pilot to test various meters that were being produced outside the Church in the USA and abroad. The best meter they found is the Starlight which might be even better than the Mark VI and the Mark Super VII Quantum because it has less noise and displays reads more accurately. Find out more on Freeandable's category for meters.

There are usually used Mark V, Mark VI or Quantum e-meters for sale online through eBay.

Or you can check with your Scientologist friends on facebook or on other forums or blogs.

How can I get my e-meter repaired?

A Scientologist in the LA area is currently the go-to guy for e-meter repair. He has a listing on freeandable.

Does my e-meter need to be "silver certed"?

No. In the early 2000s there was a huge debacle at the Int base when it was discovered that the primary reason for the Silver Certificate line was to generate income for Golden Era Productions. That's right, they were ripping off Scientologists for years, delivering an unnecessary service at great expense. All they really did was replace the batteries, clean the meter and put a nice sticker on the back. You can learn how to easily change the batteries yourself in this article.

Can I replace the battery pack in my Mark VII e-meter?

Yes. Learn how to easily change the batteries yourself in this article.

Where can I meet Independent Scientologists?

Re-connect with old friends and new in facebook. There are several groups formed by Independent Scientologists such as Indie Scientologists and Independent Scientologists of Texas, etc. New groups are forming. You can also make friends through Marty's blog and in the many get together's put on by Indie Scientologists throughout the year in different locations. These are normally by invitation only, but it's not hard to get yourself on the communication lines. Just apply the conditions formulas. They work.

I'm an auditor. What should I do?

Auditors are the most valuable people on the planet. Start auditing! Start a group! Continue up the Bridge to full OT!

Phenomenal. Finally, something about Scientology that I can agree with wholeheartedly - and it's the first time in a long, lonely time.

Yes, the same for me: After a long and lonely time I can agree and I'm arrived where I wanted to be. All what I read so far is like coming from my heart. Thank you so much!

Steve, OMG! There are blue skys ahead. Everyday I thank LRH but 2 days ago I managed to get up to anger and was pissed off at him for not doing a better hat turnover. In only 5 mins of reading your site, the solution to my 'problems' came to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart (that's about all that was left anyway!). Thank you for your hours and hours and care and all those that are helping you.

This is a brilliant, beautiful, functional, professional and 40 other complimentary words website. Steve, your professionalism in this area is unsurpassed. Realizing what this will do for Indy Scientology is like a huge cog in session.

Thanks Roy, I've got to add a section promoting the idea of becoming a professional auditor or even better, an auditor training center. Plus I need to add APIS onto the links because you guys are totally pushing Standard Tech.

Is it a requirement to be Clear to be an auditor? And is an e-meter absolutely required?

Thank you!
+3 # Thoughtful 2013-04-14 14:37
Hi Will, You don't have to be an Clear to be an auditor, and the e-meter is required for most but not all of the auditing processes. The meter itself is just a tool — it doesn't do anything but measure changes in electrical resistance.

As it turns out the mind is not the same thing as the brain. The brain is a switchboard and really sort of a "microphone" through which the being directs the movement of the body. And it may have other uses, for sure.

But the mind is a collection of mental image pictures which the being creates himself and "thinks with." You can observe this for yourself simply by closing your eyes and thinking of a picture of something — a cat for example. The picture is actually made of matter — and has a mass and weight and sometimes an electrical charge. As a person goes through their daily activities, mental image pictures are continually moving and shifting and so the resistance of the human body changes (slightly and) correspondingly. And the meter registers the change as the resistance increases or decreases.

Interestingly, Mr. Hubbard found the pattern of needle movement on the meter corresponded to certain types of mental phenomena. And so it really helped enable auditors to reach deeper because it itself provided a kind of window into the mind. So with this incredibly simple but powerful tool he was able to design new processes that utilized and harnessed the power of that window into the mind — or you could also call it a window into the human soul.

You can play with the meter yourself if you ever get one. For example, you can think of certain kinds of things and see the patterns appear for yourself, which is an amazing and fun thing. It's not therapeutic, but you can easily verify what the meter does for yourself. And actually doing that is part of any auditor's training (auditors who are learning how to use the meter, that is).

Today you can get trained as an auditor in several places outside the Church and in fact, if you are looking for a new career, I don't know of a better or more rewarding career. You can get a meter I believe for about $500 today from a few people who manufacture them outside the Church. They are not not useful really, on yourself, but if you want to be an auditor you should get one. I have an article I think on my website with more information.

Before e-meters were widely available — throughout the '50s — LRH developed lots of processes that did not use a meter. Some of them are very powerful.

I read:
"One of our first projects is very exciting and is a new Div 6 project to get the original OCA back in use. And what about cleaning up the subject of Ethics (from the current perverted Corp Scn version, to the original LRH definitions and policies on personal ethics)?"

So what is the original LRH concept?
When I read the Ethics book two thirds of it is designed to protect the organization and to discipline its members. Has all that been created by DM?

Even though I'm not a Scientologist, I think what you're doing is okay, and since I know many of you, I know you are good people.

I run the 866-XSEAORG toll free advice line, I've not got many Scientologists calling me, which to me means you guys have made yourselves well enough known, so Scientologists can find you!

If a 800 toll free number would help promote you, and have a neutral Indie staff that number, or do like I do, and just leave a message on the Number's answering message, directing to this site, is what I generally recommend.

My toll free number costs me roughly 50 bucks a month, since my number only gives a message.

Wow! What an extraordinary discovery!
I have wanted to be an auditor since I first discovered Scientology in 2000. Never thought I could. Perhaps it is possible to realize that goal through this organization.

Omg. I'd didn't know I could be a Scientologist outside of the church. (Crying now.) I'm floored. Literally dumbfounded. Omg.

So, please, please, please....I need help. I don't know how to live in the wog world. I've lost everything. I've even lost my daughters who blew from staff at the Sea Org due to atrocities they witnessed. They blame me for not knowing and for getting them involved at such young ages. I know I'm missing their overts, but I'm not trained enough to handle all of this.

All I ever wanted with all my heart and soul is to get to the top of the bridge. I've always been a very big, powerful being, accomplishing a lot, enduring a ridiculous life and still coming out better than most. But, every ridiculous, fucked up thing, out of the blue stopped me in Scientology and a lot from me refusing to 'just do it' when screamed at if I saw an outness. Even writing up KR's seemed to piss off the staff I dealt with. I pressed on for over 10 years being routed here, routed there, reg'ed for this, re-reg'ed for that, money given for one thing, then allocated for something go else before I could even start a service. Just fucking bullshit and if I said anything, I lived in ethics arguing and being told I'd get blasted with Non-Enturbulation orders, the list goes on and on. Then, no service. No explanation. I even got my daughters on staff after that anyway!

I'm a good person. I even turned myself into to ethics when needed just to figure out the scope of the errors of my ways. I even had one of the first OT 8's tell my org to pull out the stops to get me up the bridge, in front of the org public, during one of their tours.

My case and folders were a mangled mess when I left, and I only left because I was silently refused services...and the situations are so confusing, I don't even know what happened really. All I do know is that I don't know how I've survived this long and I wouldn't call it 'living'. Even before Scientology I have had an innate sense of ethics.

Please help me. If you could imagine a person on their knees pleading for life, please get that picture. I just 'know' I'm meant to do good, viable things, but nothing out here is a big enough game for me, yet I'm so fucked up from all the barriers and stops that I'm barely functioning doing anything just to simply survive.

I'm in bad shape. I really need help. I have nothing to give, but I'm an able being.

Can you point me in the right direction? I'm in Los Angeles.

Utterly Confused, The first step for you is to discover exactly what actually has been going on in the CoS and you can do that by reading more of this website, and also my other ethics-oriented site, which is called www.scientology-cult.com. That will give you the big picture and de-PTS you quite a bit (the Church is a suppressive group). In a nutshell, after LRH died the person who took over (David Miscavige) was a "sociopath" which is the modern word for "suppressive person." That is the problem. It's not the only problem, but it is the main problem.

You should also go straight to Amazon.com and purchase "The Sociopath Next Door" by Martha Stout, and perhaps "Snakes in Suits" which will be very de-PTSing for you to read.

Doing all the above will be a very good start. You can also connect up to hundreds of other Indie Scientologists via facebook (link below in bottom right of screen).

Do these things and then let me know how you are doing. By then you will be in a new operating condition. First, you need to shake off the darkness and get your strength back.

Anyone wanna start up or at least chat with me in Australia...... this is brilliant
# Thoughtful 2014-01-19 08:50
Hi Lenny, Independent Scientology is all about initiative and responsibility. Grab any hat you want and just help people. The more people you help, the more friends and support you will have and an activity will spring up from nothing.
# Freespirit 2014-04-02 10:54
Hi from down under,
I live in sleepy town Perth in Western Australia and I have been studying LRHs books for 7 years now. I have the most difficult time in the org here in Perth and came so close to wanting to kill myself whilst associating with the church,
I could say that my time with the church was the most darkest time in my life and I am glad to be alive.
I have never been treated so bad as I have in this church. It is the most spiritual devoid place I have ever been in,
Despite all this I I continued to study and made my gains. All I wanted to do was get some auditing and now that I have left and realised how bad things are, I am very sad that I cannot get audited.
Is there anyone in Australia who can do this auditing?
If not could someone please give me some contacts so that I may enquire how I might get some auditing in the States.
I have been through so much to get this far and now I don't know where to go to get the proper help that I know is there
# Thoughtful 2014-04-02 11:14
Yes, there are independent auditors in Australia. Visit milestonetwo.org — they are based in Australia and have a network of auditors available I believe.

I am a class 4 auditor and i am from India. I was wondering why my country is blacklisted to open some of the things on this website. I would like ti interact with other free scientologists.
# Thoughtful 2016-04-07 10:02
I don't know the answer to that question Sandeep. I do NOT have India marked as a blacklisted country, so it should work fine. Regards!
# MsTeller 2016-06-13 18:39
Hello! I had a question about the personality test. I have taken the test but I do not want to go into the COS to get the results. Is there an independent source for Scientology personality testing?
# Curious 2016-06-13 20:49
You might want to try The Courseroom - see their ad just below this. However, IMO the only potential value of this test was really to provide a baseline for measuring change due to auditing. Beyond that, it was used to get people to sign up for a service in the first place by getting them to focus on whatever it was that was "ruining" their life. Naturally life is far from perfect and this is not to say things don't need to be improved. But I'm personally not sure the personality test was ever being used in a worthy manner. If you are really wanting change, you can also get a copy of the book, "The Disappearance of the Universe" which is not by LRH and is not part of Scientology. It will give you another way at looking at the subject of personality.
# Chris 2016-07-07 23:18
Hi, I've had an interest in Scientology for a long time. I've read most of the anti church books and also a couple of books by LRH. Is there a list of services/people in Sydney I can have a chat to?
